The next-gen fitness band from Samsung may be arriving sooner than expected as there are indications it will be launched next month. The Vice President of Samsung, Rhee In-jong who leads Samsung Pay is also championing the Samsung Gear Fit 2. The smart wear fitness tracker, which would be the successor to the Gear Fit released in 2014 is being rumored to come in 3 color versions of black, blue and pink.
There are new additions to the smart wear which include an addition of GPS as well as the bio-processor Samsung announced late last year which can track skeletal muscle mass and body fat apart from the usual heart rate tracking. There are however reservations of how accurate those measurements will be, but the GPS will definitely improve run and biking tracking.
For better ergonomics, the Gear Fit 2 will have a more curved updated 1.84″ Super AMOLED screen more than its predecessor. It also appears wider, which could improve the UI (narrow screens are limiting).
